About Our School

Derby North Middle School serves a diverse population of students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades in a safe and supportive environment. DNMS uses a strong team approach to prepare students for college and careers. This approach allows staff to build strong relationships with students and families that help them be successful at the middle school level and beyond.

Derby North has specifically designed instruction for every student’s individual learning needs. We are proud of our reading and math intervention programs that directly address individual needs through differentiated instruction, adaptive and instructional software, high-interest literature and direct instruction in reading, writing, math and vocabulary skills. We also offer an advanced curriculum in reading and mathematics. When students first enter Derby North, they are issued a personal Chromebook which they keep throughout their middle school career.

Derby North is proud to have a strong connection to McConnell Air Force Base which helps the school offer a powerful learning
environment. We also have a strong focus on technology to prepare students for competing in a global environment. All of the attributes listed above help students develop leadership skills, build healthy relationships, understand personal responsibility, reach their academic potential, and prepare them to be successful at the high school level and beyond. Our staff is committed to helping students reach these goals.
